How We Support You

Prostate Cancer Research support any fundraiser from the moment you first contact us, interested about an event, to after the event has finished. We always ensure that everything is in place and as easy as possible for you!

What we do?

  • We provide you with a step-by-step guide to fundraising which includes a pack with hints, tips and ideas on how to raise as much money as possible. This is especially useful when taking on some of the bigger challenges with higher fundraising targets
  • Provide you with your very own PCR technical t-shirt or vest to wear on the day of your event. You can wear it with pride and everyone will know who you are fundraising for
  • We send you weekly emails with training guides from our fitness professional Graeme Hilditch, along with a training plan so that you can be best prepared for your upcoming challenge
  • Send you free merchandise for your supporters, such as t-shirts, wristbands and clappers. Your family and friends can use these to cheer you on, creating your very own PCR support team!
  • Make it as easy as possible for you by helping with any questions or worries you have. We are always at the end of the phone for support and inspiration as to what you should do next!

We thrive to support our fundraisers, from the moment you join the Prostate Cancer Research team you are one of us! All the money you raise helps us to do more research into life-threatening prostate cancer, changing the lives of men and their families. With your help and support we can use science to turn their hope into reality.

Impact of Fundraising

Your fundraising helps us to support our research and ultimately transform lives. We could not continue to fund our research without you, and without our research we cannot achieve better outcomes for men with prostate cancer and their families.

Our research

We currently fund eleven research projects, all of which aim to develop more effective treatments for and better understandings of prostate cancer. Following our ecosystem report, we are determined to fund projects that explore current gaps in knowledge and treatment to move the field forward and reach new and better treatments sooner.

Find out more about our specific research projects in our research area.

Our scientists

We fund scientists across the UK at all stages of their career. We care about the barriers faced by researchers and recognise the importance of nurturing and encouraging innovation and collaboration, to ensure that research is moving as effectively as possible to reach better outcomes for patients sooner.

By fundraising for us, you are supporting scientists at all stages of their research journey and ensuring they are treated with respect, offered flexibility and given the support they deserve.

You can find out more about our scientists in our research area.

Patient stories

We listen to patients and fund the research that will lead to outcomes that matter most to them, so that our research is entirely patient-focussed. By supporting PCR, you are supporting patients who are sharing their stories and experiences and helping to fund the research that matters most to them.

Find out more about our patient voice panel and hear from patients who have been impacted by PCR’s work.

Where your money goes

With your support, we will provide scientists with the space, flexibility, and environment that helps turn great ideas into successful treatments.

How much could you raise for our PCR scientists? Did you know that –

£73 would fund materials to grow a cell colony.

£250 would fund 6 months of essential lab consumables.

£1,200 would fund a box of new antibodies to test.

£10,000 would fund a live imaging microscope camera.
