At Prostate Cancer Research, we believe that real change happens when people come together, sharing ideas, building partnerships, and keeping patients at the heart of research.

To support that, we are proud to launch two new seed funding schemes. These small grants will have a huge impact, creating a research system that is better connected.

Our collaboration seed fund will strengthen connection between scientists. Our PPI seed fund will deepen connection between research and lived experience of prostate cancer.

1. Collaborative Seed Grant

Collaboration is one of our core values. We know that breakthroughs happen faster when researchers pool knowledge, resources, and expertise.

Our new Collaborative Seed Grant offers early-stage support for projects that bring people together to accelerate innovation and improve outcomes in prostate cancer.

Funding available

Up to £2,000 per award

Examples of what we will support

  • Joint experiments to test new ideas
  • Transporting samples, equipment, or cell lines between institutions
  • Researcher visits to share techniques or training
  • Networking activities such as specialist group meetings, workshops, or seminars

This fund is designed to spark new connections and give collaborative ideas the momentum they need to grow.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be researchers working in prostate cancer, based at a UK academic or research institution or hospital
  • Early career researchers and PhD students are encouraged to apply

Apply Now

Decisions will be made and communicated to applicants once a quarter. You may submit your application at any time.

If you have been unsuccessful in the past, we ask that you do not resubmit the same application unless specifically invited to by the Committee. If you have been successful in the past, we ask that you wait a year before applying again.

Together, we can build stronger collaborations, connect research more closely to patient experience, and drive forward the change we all want to see in prostate cancer.

2. Patient & Public Involvement (PPI) Seed Grant

Research has the greatest impact when it is shaped by the voices and experiences of those it is meant to help. Our new PPI Seed Grant supports activities that ensure research is informed by lived experience, so it stays relevant, impactful, and aligned with patient needs.

Funding available

Up to £300 per award

Examples of what we will support

  • Costs for patients attending research meetings
  • Preparation and printing of posters or materials
  • Involving patients as consultants
  • Snacks, catering, or venue hire for workshops and meetings
