Role at PCR

I’m responsible for our exciting portfolio of medical and social science research. I also lead our communications work, using research-driven campaigns to drive change for people affected by prostate cancer.

I joined PCR in 2018 and am proud that in that time we have scaled up our research more than five times over, and created initiatives including greater support for early career researchers, making grant selection more equitable, and creating and launching targeted funding calls to meet key areas of patient need, such as our award winning Racial Disparities grant programme.

I have a PhD in medical oncology from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. My PhD included getting a new drug for treatment-resistant breast cancer to clinical trial.

I also have a background in science communication, and in advocacy. This includes being co-recipient of a national award to investigate and report on health disparities in Guatemala as a journalist, and my own medical research being the spotlight of a national publicity campaign.

I have held leadership and advisory roles across charities and think tanks addressing health, gender and economic inequalities.
