Llanberis has a rich industrial history, spurred by its burgeoning slate trade. It was a huge advantage being so close to Snowdon and Llanberis soon became ‘area that roofed the world’. Take a visit to the National Slate Museum to see the original Victorian engineering workshops, and even watch demonstrations on how the slate was made! https://museum.wales/slate/
Alternatively, check out a slightly more modern invention: the Electric Mountain tour shows where Llanberis’ First Hydro Company’s power station is located. Reopening in 2020, you can explore the winding tunnels within the mountains and learn about hydro power electricity. https://www.electricmountain.co.uk/
