We have taken our time to curate a wonderful, less travelled route for our Snowdon Climbers.

Distance: 17.5km / 10.5 miles

Total Ascent: 1142m

Peaks: Yr Wydffa (Snowdon)

Walking time: 6 hours (approx)

The route up the mountain is much quieter than the classic routes and offers stunning views of the park. The majority of the route follows a steady incline but it gets steeper at the Rangers Path zig zags up to the summit – this is achievable by walkers of all abilities. We recommend it to those wanting to explore a quieter route with a moderate level of difficulty and it is the perfect option for people taking on their first walking challenge or taking part with family.

Route information

Once you set off from the Royal Victoria, you will briefly cross the iconic Snowdon Mountain Railway, the only railway to any mountain summit in the UK, on your journey towards the mighty 1085m summit of Yr Wyddfa, the mountains Welsh name.

This quieter route takes you through a stunning valley beneath Moel Cynghorion before you join the Snowdon Ranger path that winds its way above the crag tops of Clogwyn Du’r Arddu before meeting the summit ridge and your ultimate goal – the summit of Yr Wyddfa.

Once you’ve grabbed your summit selfie you will then descend back via the Llanberis path, cross underneath the railway passing the Halfway House café before you exit the mountain path and return to the Royal Victoria Hotel to celebrate!
