Thank you for considering to leave a gift in your will. Every gift will be used to fund more research into treatments for prostate cancer. Our vision is a future without prostate cancer.

Why leave a gift to PCRC in your will?

By leaving a gift in your will, you will be supporting and funding world class research working towards better therapies and treatments for men with prostate cancer.

We are making huge progress but we still have a long way to go. Leaving a gift in your will can help to fund the best possible research, continue our progress and contribute to brand new projects.

If you believe your legacy will be over £100k then we can restrict your gift to a brand new research project. Please get in touch with our legacy fundraiser to discuss.

What types of gifts can you make?

If you decide you would like to leave a gift in your will, you will need to choose what kind of gift. PCRC receives different gifts, the three main types are:

1. Residuary Gift

Once all other amounts of money and property have been given to the named people, the money or property that is left is the residuary gift. In other words, this is a share of what remains once all other payments have been made.

2. Pecuniary gift

This is a gift of a fixed sum of money.

3. Specific gift

This is the gift of a specific item such as a house or a piece of jewellery. It is important to describe the gift precisely in your will, to ensure that the executors know what you intended.

How can you leave a gift in your will?

In order to ensure your wishes are met, it is safest to use a solicitor or a professional wills writer.

When you come to writing your will, it is good to be as prepared as possible. Here are a few key things to consider when getting started:

  1. Estimate how much you are worth
  2. Decide who you want to name in your will and create a list of names and addresses
  3. Decide who you would like to carry out your wishes by appointing executors
