Covid-19 Safety Information

We are so excited to bring you Snowdonia for Science 2021 and hope that having this adventure in your diaries will give you something to work towards and look forward to over the coming months!

We understand that these are uncertain times and that we need to adapt our events to ensure they safe and comply with Covid-19 government guidelines. The safety of our participants is our top priority, so we have made some key changes to Snowdonia for Science to make it a safe challenge for you take part in this summer. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and make any changes necessary to bring you a successful and enjoyable Snowdonia for Science 2021!

Safety measures for our in-person challenges

We are taking a number of steps to ensure we comply with government guidelines and run a safe event for our in person challenges:

  • The challenges are entirely outdoors – all routes will start and end at the Royal Victoria. We have also cancelled our dinner this year to ensure the entire event is outside.
  • Participants will have staggered start times – this will help to ensure there are no crowds at our check in point or on the route.
  • The main safety briefing will be sent to you prior to challenge day – this will include information about how to look after yourself on the route, and will mean you have to spend as little time at the registration point as possible.
  • We will provide hand sanitiser for all participants
  • Social distancing markers will be in place at the registration tent for the start and end of your challenge – to help you maintain a two metre distance from those outside of your household when you sign in and complete your challenge. There will be space around the registration tent to sit and relax too which we will mark out.
  • All PCR staff will wear masks – when you sign in and complete your challenge, all PCR staff will wear masks to be extra safe.
  • Signage and information on route – there will be signs and information along the route to remind you to keep your distance from other walkers, and marshals along the route to help along the way.
  • In the week leading up to event day, if you are feeling unwell at all or have any symptoms associated with covid-19, we ask you to please stay at home.
