It has been a month since all of our incredible marathon runners passed the finish line at the Virgin Money London Marathon 2017, and we are still buzzing with excitement about each and every one of them. Marathon day itself was such an inspiring event, made even more so by the strength and passion of our runners. Charity and ballot place alike, every body who ran for the Prostate Cancer Research Centre ran their hardest and did us proud! All of Team PCRC who started made it over the finish line!

Fifty two runners ran in aid of PCRC this year, twenty seven with charity places, and twenty four who were lucky in the ballot. Our runners ages ranged from nineteen to seventy one, with varying levels of fitness, although that didn't stop any of them from finishing! We had eighteen females participate and thirty four males who came from all over the country in order to take part in the day.

This year we have loved having such a diverse range of people running for the charity, and we are especially proud of how close the group has become, sharing training and fundraising updates on their group on Facebook, and making regular contact to cheer each other on. It was especially touching to see that our runners encouraged each other throughout the marathon and shared experiences with people who had been strangers just months before.

The motivation to keep their fundraising up as they trained has been phenomenal. Whether it was cake sales, quiz nights, auctions or awareness days, pushing their friends, their family or their colleagues, our Team worked hard to secure funds that are vital in order for the charity to keep going. Thanks to our runners, we have raised £150,000 for the Prostate Cancer Research Centre this year!!!

We had three siblings run together, a father and son team, a mother and son team, and two friends run together, but every individual has proved themselves capable of an incredible challenge! We know it was hard for some of our runners to get to the marathon, but they did it, and raised a truly fantastic amount for PCRC on the way.

A special thank you and congratulations to our runners who managed not only to hit their fundraising target, but who went far above and beyond it. Some of you managed to double the target, and a couple of you manged to triple the charity-place goal of £2500.

We hope that whatever role you played in helping us to reach £150,000, that you are proud of your involvement. Thank you to all of our marathon runners, and to everybody who supported them. Without your help, we would not be able to continue to fund research and carry on discovering new treatments for men with advanced prostate cancer. Whatever your reason for supporting us this year, thanks to people like Team PCRC, we can work towards improving the quality of life and longevity of men with the disease.
