I am now at the end of my third week as CEO of the Prostate Cancer Research Centre and I wanted to take the time to introduce myself to you.

Firstly, I am delighted to have been given the opportunity by the board to lead such an amazing charity. I was originally attracted to the cause because Prostate Cancer is notoriously underfunded and kills an alarming number of people every year. As I went through the application process, I discovered that Professor John Masters and the board of trustees had built a strong, welcoming and effective organisation.  From the fundraising, through to the operations, governance and research, the organisation is in rude health and has many opportunities to grow its income and expand its overall impact.

Scientific research is the only way that we will achieve our goal of improving the survival rates of people with prostate cancer and ultimately finding a cure. It is an exciting time for cancer therapy as there are new developments in the research and we are supporting world class scientists to ensure we are moving closer every day to achieving our mission.

In the short term I intend to learn more about the great work that the scientific teams are doing, meet some of our amazing supporters, develop a long term strategy for the organisation and find a new permanent base for the charity. In the long term my aim is to lead the fantastic team to grow the organisation to enable the board to increase the depth and breadth of the research and ultimately significantly improve the chances of survival for people who are diagnosed with advanced stage prostate cancer.

I look forward to working with all of you.
