Although we are well into the last few days of December before Christmas, we hope that you are still making time to stay fit and healthy throughout the festive period! If you are taking part in one of our events with us, then now is as good a time as any to focus on getting your fitness levels up. The holidays can sometimes be used as an excuse to let training get off track, but you can still stay on track whilst still getting a chance to celebrate.

  1. Plan when you’re going to train in advance. This way you can know when you are free to enjoy the holidays without feeling like you are missing out.
  2. Try waking up earlier and train first thing, so can still stay in shape AND have plenty of time to get holiday activities done.
  3. Find a training partner. It’s easier to get up when you have someone doing it with you! You’re also less likely to skip a training session if you have someone you don’t want to let down.
  4. Mix up your training and try something different over the festive period, to make it more interesting for you and keep you excited about making progress.
  5. Try doing smaller work outs rather than larger ones to minimize the time you are spending on training, and giving you more time to enjoy yourself.
  6. Record your progress every two weeks during this time, to make sure you stay motivated and on track for the New Year.
  7. Don’t deprive yourself of delicious food or having fun with your friends and family, after all, it’s still the holidays! Enjoy yourself and make sure you include time for you to recover.

Merry Christmas from everyone at the Prostate Cancer Research Centre, and a Happy New Year! We hope that you are excited for everything to come in 2017!
