Prostate cancer stem cells

Dr Aamir AhmedThe cancer stem cell concept proposes that only a tiny fraction of the cancer cells maintain and drive the growth of the cancer. Consequently, if this small population of prostate cancer stem cells could be targeted and killed it might be possible to cure the cancer.

Our goals are to identify prostate cancer stem cells and find a way of killing them. We are looking for targets on the cell surface because these are easier to attack than those inside the cell.
